Every year Home Make It runs its Advanced Homemade Winemaking Courses for the wine enthusiast. Our students range from people who are looking to make their own wine at home, to the amateur winemaker who is looking to improve their knowledge and understanding of how to make a better drop. The courses are educative workshops that cover the entire wine making process.

Students are provided with wine-making processing fact sheets, as well as developing hands on experience by making a batch of wine over 5 classes. These sessions are spread over the year focusing on the different stages in the wine-making process. The idea of the course is to encourage each student to take what they learn and put that into practice on their own batch of wine at home.

Each class will be provided nibbles and refreshments and at final class you will enjoy a nice BBQ made especially for you as well as taking home a dozen bottles of the wine you helped to make!

WINE BASICS, CRUSHING & FERMENTATION (1st Class)

  • Wine variety/styles
  • Grape selection
  • Wine equipment
  • Wine making essentials (measurements and additives)

PRESSING & STORAGE TECHNIQUES (2nd Class)

  • Malolactic fermentation
  • Storage options; tanks, demijohns and barrels

WINE ADJUSTMENTS, WINE FAULTS & MALOLACTIC FERMENTATION (3rd Class)

  • Wine making faults and analysis
  • Malolactic fermentation
  • Wine adjustments and oaking

BLENDING TECHNIQUES, RACKING & PRESERVING PROCESSES (4th Class)

  • Fining agents and trails
  • Wine adjustments during maturation
  • Wine blending technique
  • Racking and filtering techniques

WINE BOTTLING & BBQ (5th and Final Class)

  • Wine adjustments
  • Wine bottling techniques
  • BBQ ( dietary requirements must be informed 2 weeks prior class date)

    Cancellations must be received 15 business days prior course date to be refunded.

    Cancellations will only be accepted by phone or in person.
    Refund transactions will only occur by visiting the store in person.
    Refunds can be in Cash or Voucher
