~ Darebin Homemade Food and Wine Festival ~

On behalf of the Home Make It crew, I would like to congratulate the Darebin City Council on another very successful Darebin Homemade Food and Wine Festival. We are very proud to be a major sponsor of this wonderful community event that celebrates sustainable food and food traditions. It was an action packed week-long event that reflects a Council that celebrates multiculturalism, diversity, and promotes sustainable food practices and traditions. The festival highlights food traditions and a passion in individuals and families to share recipes, processes and the fruits of their labor.  

I would like to also take this opportunity to congratulate, not only all the winners of the homemade food and beverage categories in passata, olive preserves, red and white wine, but all the entrants. We know there was a big contingent of Home Make It customers among the winners and we couldn't be happier, and prouder!

~ Cade's Home Brew News ~

Hi Brewers, 

What a wonderfully hectic time it is to be in Melbourne as a beer lover, with all the goodness that comes from the annual Good Beer Week! As part of the Darebin Homemade Food & Wine Festival & Good Beer Week, Home Make It & the Merri Mashers Brew Club descended upon Carwyn Cellars in Thornbury to do a streetside brew amongst the punters. We pulled out our shiny SS Brewtech equipment & as soon as the smell of brewing beer wafted, we had many curious onlookers & questions. 

The next day we wandered down south to The Craft & Co to host the BREWFC dinner function. The winner of the BREWFC competition's beer was matched to it's own menu & boy was it good! The winning Stout flowed freely as everyone present enjoyed it & the amazing food on offer. If you're in the mood for a quality Stout, head down to Collingwood to try it on tap at The Craft & Co . 

And we wound up this week with a day of cider-making beside the Yarra as we teamed up with the gents behind KAIJU! Beer & Golden Axe cider for Good Beer Week.

We have just seen a fresh batch of Wyeast & White Labs yeast in from the USA & don't forget our Viking grain in 25kg sacks or loose is still 15% until the end of May.
