Road Trips & Nano Breweries

~ Is Your Dad a Winner ? ~

If you have been in to stock up on some DIY foodie items lately & spent over $100, you would have gone into the draw for a wonderful day of brewing a beer on our Nano brew system at our Clayton store, plus a Home Make It Beer equipment kit to take home & finish your beer off in.

Well today we have drawn the three lucky winners, and here they are. Congratulations to Barbara Marshall, Bill Kostic & Lucky Commisso. We can't wait to throw some grain, water & hops together & make some beer with you !

~ Honey, I Shrunk the Brewery ~

This week we got the final piece of our Nano Brewery at our Clayton store. The fermenting platform arrived & now we can make some serious beer. The fermenting platform allows us to accurately control the ferment temperatures of our beer, much as in a commercial situation. And to test the new platform, why not make a beer ? So Cade whipped a recipe up & got to work. Here are a few pictures of the Nano Brewery in action. Once tested, we will be making this available for customers to hire.

~ A Meat Pilgrimage ~

Last Weekend a large number of our Home Make It Team packed their bags, filled up their tanks & headed up the Hume highway to Griffith for the annual Festa delle Salsicce (Festival of the Sausage). Hundreds of people gathered to talk, eat, drink & even dance to celebrate the humble Sausage. Judges sniffed and nibbled their way through many Salami entered from far & wide until a winner was awarded bragging rights. Another highlight is always the Museum, and especially the amazing old food & beverage making equipment. Take a look at some of these old treasures !

A vintage press, built to last !

A lovely old Still, for making essential oils of course !

And my favourite is last, this huge solid steel crusher / destemmer for wine making.

~ Cade's Brew News ~

We have our new shipment of Viking Grain in the country now, so when you come into store you can expect to see out Grain Station & 25kg sacks sections full to the brim...ready for your recipe.

A sour cider fermenting away with Brettanomyces bacteria.

As of Monday we will see the best beer bugs in the business in our Fridges. The Yeast Bay range will finally hit stores & I'm excited ! Get in quick before these run out , as we've had huge interest already . We have brought in four varieties that will cover most bases, Funktown Ale, Farmhouse Sour, Melange & Saison/Brett mix.

Big things are afoot at our Clayton store with the last piece of the puzzle falling into place this week. Our Italian made all grain brewing system got it's fermenting platform this week, which means soon we can offer customers the chance to come in and brew their own bespoke bee from scratch to bottle. This will be good ! Watch this space for news very soon !
